Photorhabdus luminescens luciferase operon
The luxCDABE operon of Photorhabdus luminescens can be used as a reporter gene when attached to a promoter and is notably stable at relatively high temperatures, unlike many other luciferases. The operon codes for both the subunits necessary to form the luciferase protein (luxA and luxB) and the enzymes required for the production of the luciferase substrate tetradecanal (luxC, luxD, and luxE).
